When I first saw Wowie and Cecille’s wedding photos by R.A.W. Really Awesome Weddings, I was immediately charmed by all the dainty details of their wedding. From the DIY boutonnieres, invitations, to the bride’s fancy bouquet, the ultra chic reception decor and the cozy interiors of Felicity Patisserie, everything was just beautifully
Wowie and Cecille are both based in Singapore and only went home 4 days before the wedding. So how do you think did they manage to pull off a very detailed and DIY infused wedding? Well, Cecile has been very gracious to share their wedding story plus a couple of tips especially for couples abroad who are planning their wedding.
But before that, indulge yourself first and get inspired by these photos from their wedding which has a color motif of different shades of blue with a touch of bright and cheery yellow.
From Cecille: We describe our wedding as simple and fun event. We are happy with the outcome. We had fun preparing even if we did not meet our suppliers (since we only came home 4 days before the wedding) before hand. We trusted each and everyone’s craft and we were not disappointed with the outcome. We did all the preparation in Singapore, from the Wedding Dress to the invitations. We loved every single moment of the wedding, especially the time I was walking down the aisle, seeing Wowie waiting for me. It is as if “THIS IS IT!!” after being engaged for 2 years, it is already happening. We always wanted our wedding to be personalized, and for us to be able to do that, all the finances should come solely from us. So that’s what we entirely did. We never asked or received any money from our parents, we wanted to invite only the people we want to be there (40 guests), and we want only the things that we want to see on that day. The outcome was amazing. Until now I am overwhelmed how we were able to make it happen. We believed that God had the biggest part in this event. He made everything possible. No stress at all. Everything went smooth.
Cecille’s Tips for Couples Planning to Get Married
- Make sure you and your partner are enjoying every single detail of your wedding. Have fun with preparing crafts. DIY helps build relationships. (Editor’s note: I totally agree!)
- Planning your own wedding will be very stressful, we only started preparing 4 months before the wedding, I think the reason we don’t feel stressed is because we centered the preparation to Jesus Christ. We knew He will provide everything. Our finances for the wedding turned up good. Not even a single penny came out from other’s pocket. And that, I think is the reason why we come up of the wedding we really want.
- For couples who are in overseas, check the country where you are in, you will find great gowns and suits. Just look around and ask friends. In that case, you would be able to save money for the airfare ticket. When bringing home the Gown, book the front seats, get a priority queue, and ask the stewardess if they can hang the gown for you in their cabin or in the business class .
- For couples overseas, check your baggage, make sure you have enough space and weight allocation for all the crafts you bought for the wedding (imagine 50 pcs yakult- hehe we had 40kgs allotted for everything. Our clothes, we just hand carried.)
